Contouring Isn’t Just For Your Cheeks
So you want to improve your makeup skills, right? Well, one of the key things to understand is that contouring is not solely for your cheeks. Your nose benefits from a little sculpting too! If you’ve ever wondered how to contour your nose for a more defined, slimmer look, you’re not alone. A perfectly contoured nose can transform your entire makeup look, making it appear more balanced and refined.
As a professional makeup artist, I know the importance of technique when it comes down to perfecting a makeup look. Luckily, I’m here to make the process easy, and of course, I’ll introduce you to the perfect formulas so you know exactly where to go from here. Sound good!
Step 1: Be Sure to Prep the Skin
If you’re familiar with my content, this concept is probably engrained in your mind at this point. It’s usually the first step for any application technique I present. So… before you even think about reaching for a contour product, make sure your skin is well-prepped. A smooth canvas is essential for a flawless contour, so start with a hydrating primer and your favorite foundation.
Bellame’s Flawless Radiance Foundation is a great option to build the perfect base. It provides full coverage without feeling heavy, leaving your skin smooth and ready for contouring. Evenly apply it across your face to create a uniform tone, especially around your nose.
Step 2: Choose Your Contour Product
Selecting the right product is key to perfecting your finished contour. While cream contours are fantastic for a bold, defined look, powder contours offer a more subtle finish.
However, if you’re aiming for a soft, natural contour that enhances your nose without overpowering it, Bellame’s Concealer is your best friend. The creamy texture allows for easy application and blending, giving you full control over your contour.
Use it to create shadows along the sides of your nose or brighten the bridge for a balanced, sculpted effect. Plus, the long-lasting formula ensures that your contour stays in place all day.
Step 3: Start Contouring Your Nose
Time to start contouring!
- Create Shadows: To slim down the nose, apply your contour product along the sides of the nose, starting from the brow bone down to the tip. This creates natural-looking shadows that make the nose appear narrower.
- Highlight the Bridge: Use a concealer or highlighter along the bridge of your nose to bring attention to the center. A lighter shade helps emphasize the length and shape of your nose, making it appear straighter.
Bellame’s Concealer is perfect for this step. It’s creamy, blends effortlessly, and won’t crease, ensuring your nose stays sculpted all day long.
Step 4: Blend, Blend, Blend
Blending is where the magic happens. You want the contour lines to be seamless and natural, not harsh or obvious. Use a small, yet precise fluffy brush such as the Bellame Eye Brush #5 to blend the contour into the sides of your nose, ensuring no visible lines are left.
To blend out the highlight, gently tap with a sponge or brush, pressing into the skin for a natural finish makeup look.
Step 5: Set Your Contour
Once you’ve blended everything, set your makeup with a light dusting of a high quality setting powder such as Bellame’s 4K Radiance Powder. This will help lock your contour in place and ensure it lasts all day.
Lightly apply it to areas you’ve contoured to keep everything in place while keeping the finish matte but not flat.
